Environmental Digest: Exeter Awarded Grant to Plan Village Center

The state has awarded a $98,500 grant to the Town of Exeter to plan techniques and programs to support village-based growth in the community as a technique to avoid sprawl.

The money comes from the state Division of Planning, using funds from the Federal Highway Administration. Other funds are being provided by the Borderlands Project, a cooperative venture including The Nature Conservancy, the Orton Family Foundation and the 20 towns along the Rhode Island-Connecticut border. The Rhode Island Foundation is a major supporter as well.
