The City of Golden has a city council/city manager form of leadership, consisting of an elected mayor and six city councilors. Among the boards, commissions and committees addressing community issues are the following: the Bike Task Force, Community Sustainability Advisory Board, Economic Development Commission, Urban Renewal Authority, Historic Preservation Board, Housing Advisory Task Force, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Walkability Task Force, Historic Preservation Board and Planning Commission.
The Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. It has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado and among the highest of any public university in the US.
The Golden Cultural Alliance is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to develop and promote awareness of Golden’s cultural and historic assets, support member organizations by sharing resources and experience, and provide a forum for new ideas through cooperative marketing, projects, events and public outreach.
The Greater Golden Chamber of Commerce promotes the commercial, industrial and civic interests of its members, and it works to foster communications among members. The Chamber cultivates a spirit of cooperation within the community by maintaining communications with the governmental entities including city, county and state.
The Jefferson County Department of Health and Environment is committed to building a healthier Golden, Jefferson County and Colorado. Its mission is “To create, promote and enhance health and vitality through innovation, collaboration and celebration.”
