Milestones

2008

• Golden announced its selection as a Heart & Soul Community Planning project in July and began to plan for the project.
• The project partners drafted a work plan and signed a Partnership Agreement in December. A detailed project work plan was developed; roles of the partner organizations were identified.

2009

• In January Golden formed a core Local Advisory Committee, which selected additional citizen-at-large members to represent a diverse cross-section of the community.
• Golden Vision 2030 held an official city-wide kick-off event in March so that residents could learn about the project and begin to share their stories and values through tools like murals, word clouds and sacred site mapping.
• Golden Vision 2030 sponsored eight neighborhood Block Parties, which were attended by thousands of residents.
• A series of focus groups and listening sessions were conducted under the guidance of Alchemy, a business strategy consulting firm. These sessions developed individual value statements from all of the stories gathered from the community.

2010

• In May, Golden held the first of two Community Summits, which will distill value statements in to themes and core values that will be used to drive development of a new Comprehensive Plan. The second Summit will be held in June and will address tensions between core values in an attempt to further understand the heart and soul of Golden.
